Itinerary
Begin your day with a steaming cup of tea or coffee, followed by a briefing on your gorilla trekking adventure. Then, embark on a scenic journey to Bwindi, a trip of 8-9 hours along the Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale route. Enjoy a stop at the Equator for a photo opportunity, and savor lunch at a hotel in Mbarara. This safari is designed to immerse you in the beauty of southwestern Uganda's rolling hills. Upon arrival in Bwindi, check into your pre-booked accommodation and settle in for a restful overnight stay.
On day two of your gorilla trek, you'll begin by meeting with a park official for a briefing on the trekking guidelines. Be at Bwindi National Park offices by 7:00 am, with the actual trek starting at 8:00 am after the briefing. Expect 2-6 hours of trekking to find the gorillas, followed by one hour of up-close interaction, learning about their behavior. Afterward, a park guide will escort you back to the starting point. In the evening, immerse yourself in the local culture with a visit to the Batwa pygmies' community, adding to the day's unforgettable experiences.
Nestled in Kabale district in southwestern Uganda, Lake Bunyonyi is home to 29 picturesque islands and is widely regarded as Africa's deepest lake. These islands not only captivate with their beauty but also boast rich cultural and historical significance. Today, enjoy a canoe ride across the lake, taking you to Punishment Island or Bucuranuka Island for a fascinating tour. Discover hidden gems, learn about the unique history, and spot little birds along the way. In the evening, unwind by the lake's peaceful shores, and for confident swimmers, the lake is safe, free of hippos, crocodiles, and diseases like bilharzia.
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before checking out of your accommodation after a 3-night stay. Meet your driver-guide and begin your journey from Lake Bunyonyi, heading to Mbarara for lunch and a stop at the Equator for more photo opportunities.
